Hi there.

What's Happening?

Two weeks ago, we covered the harrowing story of Boston police officer Patrick Rose. Rose, the former president of the Boston police union, has been charged with 33 counts of sexual abuse of minors.

Now, Mayor Janey has released 13 pages of the file from BPD’s internal investigation of Rose from back in 1995. The released memos show internal affairs concluded the allegations “sustained: investigation disclosed sufficient evidence to support allegations.”

Why Does it Matter?

There are reportedly 105 total pages in the report, meaning we've only seen 12% of the files with 92 pages remaining sealed. According to BPD, Rose was a confirmed predator. Yet he was allowed to keep his badge. Access to the full file will let the public know who enabled Rose, and, hopefully, help hold them accountable.

Mayor Janey claims it would be impossible to release the files without naming the victims. These are not new excuses as Mayor Walsh made the same argument for not releasing any of the files during his tenure in office. That turned out to be false, as Mayor Janey released the 13 pages without naming victims.

How You Can Help

Click here to email the Mayor's office and ask Mayor Janey to release the full file. Feel free to copy and paste our template.

Mayor Janey — Please redact the victims' names and release the full investigation file concerning Patrick Rose. Bostonians have a right to know the extent of BPD's corruption.
