Hi there.
What's Happening?
On Tuesday, eight people were murdered in a white supremacist shooting targeting Atlanta’s Asian American & Pacific Islander community.
While Atlanta is far from Boston, white supremacy and racism against the asian community is not.
Stop AAPI Hate reported 96 AAPI hate incidents in Boston between March and February 2021 alone, among the highest in the nation.
As many hate crimes go unreported, the true count is likely higher.
It's no secret Boston's past and present is tainted with white supremacy and AAPI hate. Unfortunately, as racist rhetoric and violence is on the rise countrywide, Boston is no exception. As a community, we must act.
Even before this heinous attack, work was underway. Organizations like the Chinese Progressive Association (CPA) and the Asian American Women's Political Initiative (AAWPI) have been leading in Boston for years now, decades on the part of the CPA.
And on March 13th, several hundred protesters took to the Boston Common to draw attention to the surge in violence.
